This is a drawing of Kimba, a cat companion to Claudia of knitting blog fame. I spotted Kimba in a really nice photo on her blog and asked if I could use the image for an exercise in the pet portrait course I'm taking. She very kindly sent me a large jpg to work from. I think she's the cutest cat, and I'm happy with how the drawing turned out, too.
Details: The drawing is about 8 x 10" and was done with Prismacolor pencils on perhaps Fabriano paper (I don't recall which brand of paper).
I really enjoyed working on this. There was so much going on with the fur, and the eyes were a whole lot of fun, too.
I finally finished Claude! This is a pattern by Anna Bell of My Fashionable Life. I highly recommend her designs as they are clever, well written and fun to knit. I'm trying to do it justice in the photos below.
This one took a lot of time in the finishing because I'm slow at that sort of thing. There are button bands, a neckband, and cuffs that are turned up with smaller buttons sewn on (no buttonholes on these). Then I had to find just the right buttons.

The yarn she recommended is perfect because it is both fuzzy and drapes nicely. When I finished it I thought, maybe I'll make this one again, and I don't usually say that when I finish a sweater. The only thing I would do differently, for me, is to add a tad more length because I forgot how long I am.
I'm all set to start work on a new quilt this fall. This one's going to be a large wall hanging. I've got all the fabric and have done two blocks so far.
I don't have a new quilt to show you, but here is one I did last year out of flannel and old jeans (some favorite pairs are sewn in there). I like the quilting on this one because it's understated and not over quilted. It was machine quilted by a lady in the Issaquah Quilt Guild, Carol Crosby.
There's Pookie in a patch of sunlight on the floor.
I think the gardening gloves in Louisa Harding's Accessories Collection are really cute. And the Kimono Angora yarn is a luxurious thing to work with.
Yesterday I made these gloves in a blue colorway that was given to me as a gift. I had the Kimono Ribbon to make the tassels and rosettes, but it seemed too fancy for mine, which I will wear maybe while walking the dog or sitting at the corner Starbucks. So I crocheted a chain and threaded that through instead. I love them! May make more.
Project details:
Yarn: Louisa Harding Kimono Angora, 1 skein
Needles: I inadvertently used 5 US for the whole thing (two different circulars), but the pattern calls for 5 and 6 US
I'm still working away on my Donegal, making slow progress, and another sweater that has a lot of finishing -- button bands, hand sewn neckband, and set-in sleeves.
